Editor's Note: In October 2025, ChatGPT announced that it will allow erotica for "verified" account members in OpenAI's new "Grown-Up Mode" policy. This will xxxx the LLM to to generate material like erotica or graphic violence without the old warning messages. How this applies to sexual wellness content in general has yet to be seen. I have made a living as a journalist, copywriter, marketer, and PR consultant for over two decades. Like most writers, I’m morally and ethically concerned about AI — especially in industries where accuracy impacts people’s health.

Why AI Content in Health and Wellness Is a High-Risk Move

Many AI programs do block certain health-related or sexual wellness topics, especially if they involve explicit sexual content, medical advice, or regulated claims.

AI-generated health and wellness content is not fact-checked. It cannot be relied on to provide medically accurate or evidence-based information.

Additionally:

Regulatory risk is growing: Health and sexual wellness content is increasingly scrutinized by governments and platforms, meaning AI-generated copy that makes unverified claims could put your brand at legal risk.

Algorithms don’t understand nuance: AI can misinterpret tone, context, and cultural sensitivity in health and intimacy topics, which can lead to offensive or misleading phrasing.

Lack of source transparency: AI models rarely reveal where their information comes from, so there’s no way to verify if the data is credible or current.

Outdated or incomplete data: Many AI models are trained on data that’s months or years old, which is dangerous in fields where guidelines and best practices evolve quickly.

Overconfidence in incorrect answers: AI often presents misinformation with absolute confidence, making it harder for non-experts to spot errors.

Repetitive and generic phrasing: Even when AI gets facts right, its writing style often sounds formulaic, which can undermine authority and trust.

Potential for shadowbans or account flags: Posting AI-generated sexual wellness content without edits can still trigger platform moderation systems, even if the content seems compliant.

This is a race to the haphazard copy-and-paste mentality, which can be harmful to unknowing consumers. If you hope to position your brand as an authoritative leader with an emphasis on consumer health and safety, you are responsible for delivering fact-checked information. 

The shortcuts are not worth the risk. AI may save time for administrative tasks, but it has zero value when it comes to thought leadership, originality, audience trust, SEO performance, and factual accuracy. 

How AI Restrictions Are Expanding in 2025

For the last three years, I’ve monitored multiple AI copywriting models to see how they handle health and sexual wellness topics. From 2022-2024, most AI models blatantly blocked or flagged sexual and reproductive health-related prompts. In 2025, models like ChatGPT, Canva, and Claude.ai are less restrictive.

Other AI observations in 2025: 

➡️ The majority of LLMs (Large Language Models) like ChatGPT now generate sexual health content with very few restrictions. About 90% of LLMs no longer issue a warning about sexual health content being in violation of their user policies.

Google’s 2024–2025 search updates now penalize low-quality, unoriginal AI content.

In mid-2024, Midjourney banned all “horror” prompts. By early 2025, OpenAI introduced new restrictions that block even mild sexual health queries, and Google’s Helpful Content updates made ranking with lazy AI content nearly impossible.

➡️ I speculate that businesses relying on AI today are going to be fucked one way or another in the near future. What happens if a plagiarism feature detects stolen content on your website? There are so many ways AI is going to go wrong in the future, because it already is. As of now, there is little regulation. It's the wild west. The pendulum will swing in the other direction, eventually. Fair warning.  

AI Content Will Make Weak Brands Stand Out for the Wrong Reasons

In January 2025, several wellness supplement companies were called out for publishing entire blogs lifted from ChatGPT, complete with inaccurate dosing advice. Consumers are becoming more attuned to the lifeless, repetitive tone of AI content, and the ability to spot fakes is only going to get sharper.

…then using AI for generic blogs and captions is not just lazy, it can be brand-damaging.

The Long Game: How to Outlast AI-Dependent Competitors

There are no shortcuts to earning credibility, nurturing your audience, building trust, or standing out from the competition.

Read that ^ last part again. The pleasure products industry is already an oversaturated. market. Copy/paste ChatGPT copywriting is not making anyone stand out from the competition.

I suspect that brands that respect their audience, their content, and value the well-being of their customers will outlast imposters. With search engines now openly penalizing low-quality AI content, that “outlast” period might come faster than most expect.
